OBITUARY
Mr. Hy Xuan Nguyen
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hy Xuan Nguyen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Hy passed on December 31st at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his father, Tuoc Van Nguyen, his mother, Chung Thi Nguyen, his sister Thuan Thi Nguyen and his brothers Chuc Van Nguyen, Mung Van Nguyen, Mai Van Nguyen, Son Van Nguyen, Long Thang Nguyen, Dong Van Nguyen, Vinh Van Nguyen. Hy was born on July 2, 1935 in Dong Linh (Hanoi) where he spent his formative years. He went on to attend Petrus Ky (gifted high school) and Air Force Academy in Lackland Air Force Base (Texas). He fought bravely for the South Vietnamese Air Force and left Vietnam with his family in 1975. He settled in the Chicagoland area and worked as a machine operator for the Real Sausage Co. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. But more than anything, Hy was a devoted husband and father. He loved spending time with his family playing tennis, taking them on road trips and watching their favorite TV shows. He and his wife, Ly, loved entertaining friends with parties that lasted all weekend. He was, also, an active member of the Chicago Vietnamese community. Hy is survived by his loving wife, Ly Xuan Thi Nguyen, his children Lan Xuan Thi Nguyen, Dai Xuan Thi Nguyen, Phuong Xuan Thi Nguyen, Vinh Xuan Nguyen, Nga Xuan Basile, and My Xuan Thi Nguyen, 14 grandchildren, one great grandchild and his sister, Chi Kim Nguyen. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. PLEASE OMIT FLOWERS. Arrangements by Midtown Funeral and Cremation Options, 773.654.3744, www.midtownfunerals.com
