Funeral Details

Sharon Louise Sankey, “Tina” 73, of Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, passed away peacefully April 15, 2024.

Born in Chicago, raised in Bridgeport, Sharon attended Chicago Public Schools and worked outside of the home while raising five sons. Sharon cared about and gave to others in her family and community. She loved to laugh, read, watch movies, and write in her journal. She was an excellent listener who loved all kinds of music and all kinds of people. She loved God and her family. Sharon was generous with her time, attention, energy, and wisdom. She loved hearing about her grandchildren’s talents, passions, and struggles and gave excellent advice.

Devoted wife of the late Erskine Sankey; loving mother of John, Jason, Jay “Googie”, Benjamin, and Moses; grandmother of fourteen.

Preceded in death by granddaughter Nylah Yolich, beloved brothers Joseph and Anthony, and parents Evelyn and John Yolich.

Visitation 9:30am Monday, April 22, (11am prayers) at Midtown Funeral Home, 3918 W. Irving Park Rd. Chicago, 60618. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
